Li Wei Yang, Curator of Pacific Rim Collections, Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, will discuss his discovery of a unique, sixteenth-century, Chinese encyclopedia at the Huntington Library. This presentation will not only discuss the journey of discovery and authentication but will also touch on implications associated with Chinese rare books found outside of China. Come learn the fascinating history of the encyclopedia and how this rare Jiajing period copy – one of only 419 volumes to survive – found its way into the Huntington collection.
